Redalyc, created at the Universidad Autónoma del Estado de México in October 2002, is a demanding indexing system that integrates journals of high scientific and editorial quality into its index. It also provides indicators on the publication, collaboration and use of scientific literature.

Based on the approach of science as a common and public good, Redalyc seeks to preserve the academic and open nature of scientific communication, promoting a sustainable, inclusive and participatory academic and scientific ecosystem. It includes Open Access scientific journals, qualified with the Diamond Seal, after meeting a demanding set of criteria for acceptance.
